The procedure was classified as doping in 2010 and banned by WADA. According to n24.de this method is \u201ethe big thing in German professional football.\u201c Although it is not entirely clear how the author comes to this statement,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.n24.de\/n24\/Wissen\/Gesundheit\/d\/2698596\/das-heil-liegt-im-blut.html\" target=\"_blank\">the article is worth reading<\/a>: the scientific method of PRP and the results are well described.<\/p>\n<p>The method is used in England, too. Recently there have been\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/sport\/football\/390515\/Tottenham-turn-to-blood-spinning-to-speed-up-Gareth-Bale-s-return\" target=\"_blank\">several\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/sport\/football\/news\/tottenham-hotspur-have-been-using-spinning-blood-1564153\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a>\u00a0on the use of PRP by Tottenham Hotspurs. Also in Norway several top clubs use the method, as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vg.no\/sport\/fotball\/norsk\/artikkel.php?artid=10108693\" target=\"_blank\">the newspaper VG recently reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Study: Prohibited substances increased<\/strong><br \/>\nThe question remains: How big is the effect of PRP?\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/m\/pubmed\/23211708\/\" target=\"_blank\">A recent scientific study published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine<\/a>\u00a0now suggests that the effect of PRP is much bigger than previously thought. The researchers write: \u201eWe present evidence that PRP contains and may trigger systemic increases in substances currently banned in competitive athletes.\u201c In addition, the authors of the study provide an opportunity to test athletes on the use of PRP. WADA writes on request that they know the study and that it is even co-financed by anti-doping authorities. What WADA didn\u2019t say: How the results of the study will affect a possible ban of PRP. WADA wrote it will not comment on it at the moment because of \u201ecurrent proceedings\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>That PRP is apparently used relatively often in football shows one thing: The fact that almost everything is being done in football to get the players fit as quickly as possible.
