So wie Marcus Bensmann. 20 Jahre lang berichtete er für deutsche, Schweizer und japanische Medien aus Zentralasien, dem Kaukasus, Afghanistan, Iran und Irak. Seine Themen in Zentralasien und dem Kaukasus waren Machtmissbrauch und Korruption sowie die Zusammenarbeit der Bundesregierung und der EU mit den Despoten. In Usbekistan, Tadschikistan und Turkmenistan darf er nicht mehr arbeiten. Dafür deckt Bensmann seit 2014 von CORRECTIV aus finstere Machenschaften auf. Er hat unter anderem zum Abschuss des Flugs MH-17, AfD-Finanzierung und gepanschte Krebsmittel aus der Alten Apotheke recherchiert. Er fand den Brief, der die Verantwortung des verstorbenen Papstes Benedikt XVI. für den Wiedereinsatz eines wegen Kindesmissbrauch verurteilten Priesters in eine oberbayerische Gemeinde belegt. Ob in Zentralasien, Bottrop oder Garching an der Alz: Bensmann geht vor Ort. Er nimmt sich Zeit, redet mit den Menschen, hört zu, findet Quellen und Zeugen und öffnet einen anderen Blick.
